Kate Jackson Discusses “Charlie’s Angels” Financial Issues

Kate Jackson has expressed her dissatisfaction regarding the financial aspects related to “Charlie’s Angels.”

In the groundbreaking series, Jackson portrayed Sabrina Duncan, one of three former police officers turned private detectives under the elusive Charlie. Debuting in 1976, the show is set to commemorate its 50th anniversary in September. It ran for five seasons and gained immense popularity globally, even coining the term “shaky TV” thanks to its revealing outfits.

The franchise also released an extensive range of merchandise, including puzzles, lunch boxes, posters, and dolls featuring Jackson’s likeness.

“It’s amusing,” she remarked to Page Six during the Paley Honors Spring Gala on Thursday. “Someone made a significant amount of money from all that merchandise. But it wasn’t us three. They really need to sort this out. I think a lawyer could help.”

When asked about her frustration over the financial side, Jackson replied, “Of course, it’s frustrating.”

However, Jaclyn Smith, who played Kelly Garrett, seems less bothered by it all.

“I consider ‘Charlie’s Angels’ a gift,” she shared. “It opened doors for various businesses. I engage in branding, designing clothing, wigs, skincare—one project leads to another. It provided me with a fallback.”

“I don’t really focus much on merchandising, and I have fond memories of Aaron Spelling,” she added, alluding to the show’s creator, who passed away in 2006.

Smith, at 80, also touched on her success on the red carpet, stating, “Living clean and being loved. I grew up in a wonderful family. Two beautiful children, three granddaughters, and a wonderful husband make it all worthwhile.”

Both actresses were honored at the gala, where Jackson admitted she never imagined discussing “Charlie’s Angels” 50 years later.

“It’s pretty incredible that we ignited a flame 50 years ago that continues to burn globally,” Jackson reflected. “Since its premiere, Charlie’s Angels has been on TV every single day in various places.”

They were honored alongside co-star Sheryl Ladd, who, unfortunately, could not attend due to a family emergency, along with executives from Vivendi and Warner Music Group.
