Trump Criticizes Congressman Thomas Massie Ahead of Primary
President Donald Trump, in his recent comments, has prominently targeted Representative Thomas Massie, urging voters in Kentucky to remove him in the upcoming primary election. This follows Trump’s critique of various Republican lawmakers.
During a rally, Trump took aim at Massie’s record in the U.S. House of Representatives, emphasizing his negative voting history just days before the primary, which is set for Tuesday. He expressed strong disapproval of Massie’s stances on crucial issues.
“Unscrupulous Congressman Tom Massie voted against tax cuts, the border wall, military support, and law enforcement. He has consistently opposed nearly everything beneficial,” Trump stated.
“This is the worst Republican in history. Kentuckians, vote for this bastard on Tuesday. We cannot tolerate this troublemaker for another two years. He’s a real downer,” Trump added.
Trump has previously directed criticism not only at Massie but also at Senator Bill Cassidy, who lost his primary after facing Trump’s backlash. Trump described Massie as “even worse” than Cassidy, derogatorily referring to him as a “major sleazebag.”
“Kentucky, let’s get this loser out of politics come Tuesday. He’s known as Rand Paul Jr. due to his poor voting record, but he’s also quite a character,” Trump remarked.
He endorsed Ed Gallane, a competitor against Massie in Kentucky’s fourth Congressional District primary. Trump urged constituents to support Gallane, highlighting his background as a successful farmer and war veteran.
“Vote for Ed Gallane, a successful Kentucky farmer and American war hero. He entered this race because he believes Massie has been dishonest and disrespectful towards me,” the President noted.
Massie hasn’t been the only Republican on Trump’s radar; over the weekend, he challenged the weaker candidates including Rep. Lauren Boebert, who had once received Trump’s endorsement.
“Is there anyone interested in running against the timid Lauren Boebert in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District?” Trump inquired.
Boebert has supported Massie, and Trump remarked that anyone who aligns with him deserves a fierce primary challenge.
“I’ve supported Boebert in the past, but I will gladly withdraw my endorsement when a strong candidate appears,” he added.
Despite Trump’s criticism, Boebert has defended her support of Massie, indicating that she was not offended by the remarks. She stated, “I knew the risks when I backed my friend Thomas Massey. I stand firm for America First, always,” she asserted.
