Trump Warns Iran: “Clock is Ticking”
President Donald Trump expressed concern on Sunday regarding Iran’s negotiation stance, indicating that time is running out for a deal to end ongoing conflicts. He urged Tehran to act swiftly or risk facing significant consequences, particularly as skepticism grows about the potential for diplomacy to avert further hostilities.
In a post on Truth Social, he emphasized that “the clock is ticking” and stated Iran must “move fast” or risk losing everything. “Time is of the essence!” he reiterated.
During a phone interview with Axios, he reflected on his belief that Iran still seeks a deal but cautioned that they must present a compelling offer soon to avoid escalating U.S. responses. Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with Iran’s current position in the negotiations, noting, “We want to get a deal. They’re not where we need them to be.” He warned that the country must improve its stance, or it will face serious repercussions.
In a separate conversation with Israel’s Channel 13, Trump stated, “Iranians should be afraid of what’s happening.” This warning came shortly after a lengthy phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where they discussed Iran and the overall regional situation following Trump’s recent return from China. Reports indicate that the two leaders deliberated on the possibility of renewed military action against Iran as diplomatic efforts stagnated.
Israeli news sources noted that discussions around military options are ongoing, though Trump has yet to finalize any decisions. An insider remarked, “He needs to be satisfied with this decision himself,” adding that Israel might be called upon if military operations resume.
Discussions have intensified amid rising anxiety that Washington and Jerusalem are weighing potential actions should diplomatic channels fail. After returning from a trip to China, Trump met with key members of his national security team to explore next steps. Reports indicated that the conversation included a mix of diplomatic and military strategies concerning Iran.
Trump is expected to hold additional meetings at the White House to discuss military options and other pathways forward. Recent updates suggest that both the U.S. and Israel are making significant preparations for a potential restart of military action if negotiations collapse, which, according to a senior Israeli official, could lead to “days to weeks of combat.”
As tensions flared, local intelligence officials conveyed that the Iranian government may be adopting a “deception and delay” strategy to stretch out negotiations. Trump’s rhetoric has escalated recently, reflecting an increasing frustration with Iran’s proposals, which he referred to as unacceptable.
In prior remarks, Trump articulated his disappointment with Tehran’s responses and expressed doubts about their reliability in negotiations. Reports indicated that Iranian negotiators had been inconsistent in discussions, with Trump emphasizing that Iran had changed its stance regarding crucial agreements.
In light of stalled talks, both U.S. and Israeli officials assert that a position remains deeply divergent. Iranian outlets suggest Tehran is seeking considerable concessions before engaging in core U.S. demands, a stance that administration officials believe fails to align with the needed broad agreement.
As the situation evolves, Trump is maintaining a strong public position, circulating a mix of military-themed content that indicates readiness for potential military action if agreements falter. Recent drone-related incidents heightened regional tensions, with attacks reported near sensitive sites, prompting concerns over escalating military postures from both sides.
Iranian officials meanwhile are warning of potent military responses to any potential actions, asserting that regional oil access could be threatened if hostilities continue.
