Rep. Max Miller alleged to have provoked lawyer into fight as unpleasant details unfold about conflict involving his mother and former wife

Details Emerge from Heated Courtroom Encounter Involving Congressman Max Miller

In Washington, Congressman Max Miller is facing scrutiny following a courtroom clash earlier this month. Allegations have surfaced regarding his attempt to provoke his estranged wife’s attorney, Andrew Zashin, during a pretrial hearing.

According to a filing from Emily Moreno’s legal team, Miller approached Zashin while his own attorney tried to defuse the situation. The documents suggest that Zashin made personal remarks about his fiancée, implying that she was not very respectable, stating you could find women like her on the street for as little as $10.

Moreno’s team claims that Miller was trying to instigate a confrontation, prompting the attorney to exit the courthouse to avoid further escalation. Miller, a Republican from Ohio, is currently embroiled in a contentious custody battle and related domestic violence lawsuit involving his ex-wife.

Miller and Moreno were married for just two years, finalizing their divorce in 2022, and they share a two-year-old daughter. A source close to Miller commented that he was simply defending his girlfriend against what they felt were unjust insults from Zashin, though they acknowledged that Miller’s choice of words might not have been ideal.

Previously, Miller had made inaccuracies regarding his girlfriend’s presence during a custody exchange event in February, where accusations of him pushing Moreno also arose. Despite the claims, he has firmly denied any wrongdoing, attributing his earlier misstatements to honest mistakes.

Zashin’s attorney, meanwhile, dismissed the accusations against her client as unfounded. Miller has also initiated a defamation lawsuit against both Zashin and Moreno over previous allegations of abuse.

Emily’s legal team pointed to the confrontation with Zashin as part of their argument for a restraining order against Miller, with a decision on that matter still pending.

Moreno’s spokesperson expressed concerns about Miller’s recent behavior, noting that his actions in court reflect instability and unpredictability. She emphasized her commitment to finding a resolution away from public scrutiny.

A Further Altercation: The Moreno-Miller Family Tension

New information has emerged regarding a tense incident between Emily Moreno and Miller’s mother, Barb, back in January 2025. On January 30, when Emily returned home, she found her daughter under Barb’s supervision, which she believed violated their co-parenting agreement stating Barb shouldn’t babysit.

This violation led to an emotional outburst from Emily, who, according to witnesses, threatened violence against Barb, asserting her authority as her daughter’s mother. In the ensuing chaos, Barb called the police when an argument escalated over the custody of the child.

Reports suggest that during the altercation, Emily accused Barb of having memory issues and a drinking problem, claims that the Miller team disputes. At one point, another babysitter was present but departed under unclear circumstances. Emily alleged that Barb had threatened her during this ordeal.

Despite the intensity of the situation, law enforcement did not pursue charges against Emily since it appeared her comments were made under duress. Sources have commented on the contentious dynamics, suggesting there had previously been no significant issues between Emily and Barb before this incident, and they have indicated that Barb was following proper protocols in her interactions with the child.
