Spencer Pratt is currently gathering support from notable figures like Jeanie Buss and Elliot Grainge, who is married to Sofia Richie, as he campaigns for the Los Angeles mayoral primary. Since May 1, a significant number of high-profile donors have come on board, including Bass and Grainge.
His campaign has been gaining traction lately, especially following his strong performance in the recent mayoral debate against incumbent Karen Bass and Los Angeles City Council member Nitya Raman, alongside a series of campaign ads that have gone viral. Impressively, Pratt has raised over $500,000, securing second place in the polls leading up to the June 2 primary.
Among the notable supporters is Jeanie Buss, who made a maximum allowable donation of $1,800 to Pratt’s campaign, adding an unexpected twist to the race by actively backing his criticism of current leadership in California. This support might reflect a broader, yet somewhat discreet, backing among Hollywood figures who are increasingly concerned about the city’s direction.
Grainge, who leads Atlantic Records, is another addition to Pratt’s growing coalition of supporters from the entertainment and business sectors. He is reportedly the son of Lucian Grainge, a notable donor to Pratt as well.
Additions to Pratt’s list include Dan Loeb, a billionaire investor from Los Angeles, indicating a wider dissatisfaction among influential business leaders with current city policies.
Furthermore, former Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick, who made significant contributions to the gaming industry, is also lending support to Pratt’s campaign.
The Winklevoss twins, famous for their role in cryptocurrency, are similarly aligned with Pratt, showcasing a diverse network of backing from various industries, including finance and technology.
Entertainment moguls Haim and Cheryl Saban are also supporting Pratt’s mayoral bid, highlighting the unique coalition of entertainment and philanthropic figures backing his outsider appeal.
Jeffrey Sprecher, CEO of the Intercontinental Exchange, and Jamie Siminoff, founder of Ring, have also committed their support, adding more weight to Pratt’s campaign, especially given ongoing concerns about safety and quality of life in Los Angeles.
Mark Pincus, founder of Zynga, and Tinder co-founder Sean Rad are backing Pratt as well, adding tech industry influence to his campaign.
Last but not least, Val Blavatnik, affiliated with Warner Music Group, is involved, illustrating Pratt’s broad support from the entertainment and business landscape. Additionally, Nicole Avant, a producer and significant Democratic fundraiser, has plans to throw her support behind Pratt’s campaign.
Comments from listed donors are expected as the campaign unfolds.
