Stephen A. Smith cautions Jaylen Brown of the Celtics as the conflict escalates

Stephen A. Smith Responds to Jaylen Brown’s Outburst

Stephen A. Smith didn’t hold back when addressing Jaylen Brown’s recent comments during a Twitch livestream where the Celtics player shouted “fk Stephen A.” This tension has been brewing since Boston’s disappointing early playoff exit after leading 3-1 against the 76ers.

On Monday’s episode of ESPN’s “First Take,” Smith stood firm in their ongoing dispute, asserting he has plenty to say about Brown. “But at the end of the day, Jaylen Brown, be careful what you wish for,” he warned. “Do you really want me to start digging deep? I could talk about everything from locker room dynamics to what the city thinks of you, endorsement deals… the list goes on.”

Smith pointed out that the season had just ended and dismissed the idea that Brown should be celebrating his performance as his favorite season right after such an exit. “It’s really not the smartest move,” he commented, suggesting that responding to critics might not be the best strategy at this time.

In response to Brown’s accusations about chasing clickbait, Smith made it clear who he felt was really looking for attention. “You’re talking about clickbait, but it seems to me you were the one who brought my name into it,” he remarked.

During Brown’s livestream, he took aim at Smith, questioning his journalistic integrity. “Fuck you, Stephen A.,” Brown said, saying he wanted Smith out of media spaces, claiming he wasn’t using his platform for real journalism.

Earlier this month, Smith had criticized Brown for claiming he had his “favorite” season after the Celtics’ playoff exit, suggesting that Brown should take time off to reflect unless he was planning to be traded. Brown shot back, saying he would “quiet” if Smith did the same and retired.

While the Celtics faced challenges this season, including being without star player Jayson Tatum due to injury, Brown had to assume a heavier load. He was also fined $50,000 for his comments about referees following their loss to Philadelphia.

This season, Brown managed to score an impressive average of 28.7 points per game, earning him a spot in the All-Star Game for the fourth year in a row.
