Beer Keg Thrown Through Cupcake Shop Window
A man was filmed throwing a beer keg through the window of a cupcake shop in Washington, D.C., resulting in about $10,000 worth of damage while the baker was still inside.
On Monday around midnight, the suspect was observed casually walking with the keg near Georgetown Cupcakes, a well-known bakery. Video footage shows him picking up the barrel, lifting it above his head, and then forcefully throwing it through the glass window.
Dressed in a green T-shirt and khaki pants, he seemed unbothered as he crossed the street, leaving shattered glass scattered on the sidewalk behind him. Video from inside the shop shows the barrel crashing through the large window and hitting a wire rack, a sight likely to be terrifying for the staff working there.
Sophie LaMontagne, one of the bakery’s owners, shared that the baker inside was understandably frightened during the incident. “One of the bakers called us right after it happened,” she said. “She was scared when it occurred. This is heavy glass, and thank goodness no one was hurt.” LaMontagne added that such an act is both shocking and distressing for their team.
Estimates for repairs have reached around $10,000. As of Monday evening, the police had not yet made any arrests. They encourage anyone with information to reach out at (202) 727-9099, or to text the department’s tip line at 50411.
In an Instagram post, Georgetown Cupcakes addressed the perpetrators directly, stating that “Actions like this don’t go unnoticed. There are cameras, there are witnesses, and there will be consequences.” They also urged community members to come forward with any information, emphasizing that such behavior should not be tolerated.
