SEC Baseball Tournament Set to Kick Off
The SEC Baseball Tournament is set to begin today in Hoover, Alabama.
But, just a heads up—it’s going to be quite a competitive scene.
The tournament is known for its depth; forecasts suggest that all 12 teams from the conference will make it into the 64-team bracket on Monday’s selection day. However, teams like Vanderbilt, which may be on the bubble, really need to perform well in Hoover to enhance their chances.
Meanwhile, teams like Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, Auburn, and Alabama are aiming to lock in their spots as regional hosts.
Here’s what you should know about the 2026 SEC Baseball Tournament.
SEC Baseball Tournament Format
The tournament follows a single-elimination format with 16 teams participating.
The top four teams—Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, and Alabama—will secure the No. 1 to No. 4 seeds, allowing them to skip the first round. This means they’ll head straight to the quarterfinals on Thursday. The next four teams (Florida, Auburn, Arkansas, and Mississippi State) will claim seeds No. 5 to No. 8 and also receive byes into the second round.
The remaining eight teams will battle it out in the first round.
Every game is single-elimination, leading up to the SEC Championship game on Sunday.

Favorites in the SEC Baseball Tournament
As seems to be the case every year, the SEC stands out as one of the strongest conferences in college baseball.
This year, 12 teams are projected to earn spots in Monday’s bracket for the tournament. The top eight seeds likely include Georgia, Texas, Auburn, Alabama, and Texas A&M, along with Mississippi and Florida expected to host regionals.
Georgia, the top seed in the tournament, has a solid claim to that title. With a record of 23-7 in the SEC and 43-12 overall, they’re riding high. Catcher Daniel Jackson is a notable name here—he clinched the SEC Player of the Year title and even pulled off a triple crown with a .394 batting average, 27 home runs, and 77 RBIs. He wasn’t alone; three of his teammates also snagged All-SEC honors.
Jackson’s impressive stats don’t stop there; he also managed 25 stolen bases, marking him as the first catcher in Division I history to achieve a 25/25 season.
Texas, entering as the No. 2 seed, boasts a balanced lineup featuring some top players. Young talent, like outfielder Anthony Pack Jr. who finished with a .360 batting average and was named SEC Rookie of the Year, adds to their appeal. They also have freshman closer Sam Cozart with a remarkable 1.59 ERA.
And we can’t forget about ace Dylan Volantis, who received first-team All-SEC honors for the second consecutive year with an impressive 8-1 record.
But, you know, the depth of this conference means you can’t count out any of the top-seeded teams like Texas A&M, Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Arkansas, and Mississippi State. Any of them could very well make a deep run this week.
