Intensity Builds in Baseball Rivalry

Last night was something special for “Little Brother” fans.

The Padres managed to edge out the Dodgers, winning 1-0 in what’s quickly become one of baseball’s biggest rivalries. It felt more like playoff baseball than early May, that’s for sure.

On the latest episode of the Dodger Post podcast, California Post reporters Jack Harris and Dylan Hernandez teamed up with sports editor Ryan Kostecka, who’s a longtime Padres supporter. They discussed the game and whether this outcome signals a shift in the hierarchy of the National League West.

Kostecka shared his insights as a Padres fan during a time when their rivals are among the top spenders, consistently winning titles. He also humorously touched on some family dynamics surrounding the Padres, which, well, might be a bit exaggerated.

He recounted the most agonizing moments for Padres fans over the past five years, specifically involving the Dodgers, which I think many can relate to.

As the episode wrapped up, Harris and Hernandez unpacked the Dodgers’ current injury concerns, noting manager Dave Roberts’ comments about recent “flares” in the backs of both Tyler Glasnow and Brusdar Graterol. They also delved into Blake Snell’s surgery and whether the situation is really as dire as it seems at first glance.
