Wild Scene at Angel Stadium During Freeway Series
The upper deck of Angel Stadium turned into quite a spectacle recently.
During the Dodgers’ third consecutive win over the Angels in the Freeway Series on Sunday, one fan took it upon himself to tackle an unexpected challenge. A TikTok video from the day showcased a Dodgers supporter, donned in a Quique Hernandez gold World Series jersey, wrestling a wild opossum near the right-field foul pole.
Fans in that section erupted in cheers as this brave—or maybe reckless—individual lifted the creature by its tail, almost as if he was taking a victory lap after a championship game. It was a moment that felt scripted, yet somehow completely unscripted at the same time.
Stadium security was present, armed with cardboard boxes, while fans enthusiastically tossed the opossum inside, celebrating as if it were a grand achievement. In a rather ironic twist, the opossum then made a dash down to the bottom row, colliding with an Angels supporter in a Mike Trout jersey. The whole scene was almost poetic.
It’s no secret that Angel Stadium has faced its share of troubles lately. Recently, it was reported that a section of the historic ballpark had to be closed off by the Orange County Department of Public Health due to a rat infestation.
The internet was ablaze with comments regarding the situation. One user quipped, “So Angel Stadium is now the new Oakland Coliseum.” Others added jokes about Dodgers fans giving their all, filling the stadium, sweeping the series, and even—of all things—exterminating the competition.
And honestly, who can argue with that? The Dodgers, in a lopsided outcome, outscored the Angels 31-3 over the series. By Sunday night, even the opossums seemed to wave the white flag.
