Excitement for the FIFA World Cup Brings Free Pizzas

This summer’s FIFA World Cup is shaping up to be quite the event, and fans might be in for a treat. Domino’s Pizza is gearing up for the games with a unique offer—free “emergency pizzas.” Yes, you read that right.

In a rather bold move, the pizza chain will give away $1 million worth of pizzas if a player from the U.S. team ends up receiving a red card during a match. It’s a bit unexpected, I think, but it’s an interesting way to engage with fans.

If such a situation occurs, Domino’s plans to randomly pick more than 60,000 lucky individuals who will each get a free medium pizza with two toppings. That could certainly lift spirits, especially if a game goes awry.

“Football experts know that receiving a red card is one of the worst scenarios for a team,” noted Kate Trumble, executive vice president at Domino’s. It does add pressure, doesn’t it? But she emphasizes that if it happens to Team USA, Domino’s wants to help lighten the mood with their emergency pizzas. They may not alter the game’s outcome, but hey, a comforting pizza can’t hurt.

A red card is issued for serious misconduct, like violent behavior or using offensive language. Players shown a red card are not only removed from the current match but also can’t participate in the next game. It’s a hefty penalty.

For those eager to participate in this pizza giveaway, there’s a little catch—interested fans need to register on the Domino’s website by June 10 at 11:59 PM ET. Winners will have to claim their pizzas by August 2, 2026. So, there’s a timeline to keep in mind!

Furthermore, Domino’s is also giving out free pizzas to players of EA Sports FC 26. They’ll randomly select 75,000 players, showing that they’re really out to spread some joy. There’s always a chance for free pizza, and who wouldn’t want that?

Adding to their promotional efforts, Domino’s has teamed up with Saturdays Football to release a limited product line featuring jerseys, caps, and slides. Prices start at $100 for jerseys, which seems a bit steep, but it’s all part of the fun.

Overall, it seems like Domino’s is making a concerted effort to blend pizza with the spirit of the World Cup. Whether you’re rooting for goals or just hoping for a little pizza joy, it’s shaping up to be an exciting summer.
