Trevor Bauer Involved in Car Accident
Trevor Bauer’s journey back to Major League Baseball took an unexpected turn on Wednesday afternoon. The former Cy Young Award winner, who has faced significant challenges in his career, was involved in a car accident in Arizona.
The 35-year-old pitcher was driving his black McLaren when he experienced a blind collision on a street in the Phoenix area. Despite the incident, Bauer stated that he was driving below the 45 mph speed limit and is not considered at fault. Fortunately, no one involved needed hospitalization, and Bauer walked away completely unharmed.
This incident is somewhat ironic for Bauer, as this isn’t the first time he’s had trouble with a McLaren. Back in 2019, a tire from a semi-truck flew off the highway and landed on a dealership lot, crushing his 2016 McLaren 650S.
Bauer’s career took a hit in 2021 when sexual assault allegations from an accuser sparked widespread media scrutiny. Although he faced no criminal charges and maintains his innocence, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred imposed an unprecedented 324-game suspension, which was later reduced to 194 games.
Now playing for the Long Island Ducks in the Atlantic League, he has gained some attention, boasting four wins, one loss, and a 2.43 ERA. It’s noteworthy that he was in Arizona recently for physical rehabilitation due to back spasms.
Interestingly, Bauer has been vocal about wanting to return to MLB, even suggesting he would play for the league’s minimum salary. After navigating through the controversies that upended his career, he’s still aiming for a comeback, especially after coming out of Wednesday’s incident unscathed.
