A Georgia science teacher, previously charged with inappropriate conduct with a student in a classroom closet, now faces accusations of abusing five additional teens, including a girl. Allegedly, she also engaged in sexual activities in her Hummer and at a golf course parking lot.
Maris Nichols, 25, was arrested again on Thursday, roughly two weeks after the initial allegations surfaced. These involved at least two instances of sexual assault, including one in a school closet and another in her parked Hummer.
She was indicted on 11 new charges. These include child sexual abuse and evidence tampering, linked to five more alleged victims, with at least one incident occurring in a public setting.
A suspended teacher from Alexander High School in Douglasville, where she also managed football operations, she reportedly flirted with a boy in his car at a golf course, just a day following the first allegation of misconduct.
The accusations extend beyond physical encounters. Nichols is said to have sent suggestive messages to other teens about sexual fantasies and even used sex toys during video calls with at least two students under 16.
Furthermore, she allegedly sent explicit photos to one girl, motivating her to watch “Fifty Shades of Grey” before discussing other inappropriate films.
Just three days prior to her first arrest, she instructed one teen to erase their exchanges, according to court documentation.
The complaint does not specify the ages of the alleged victims other than noting they are all teenagers. At least four of them were students at Alexander High School, where Nichols started working in May 2023.
In a communication to parents, the Douglas County School System remarked, “Upon learning of the alleged misconduct, the district immediately began an investigation. Student safety is the district’s top priority.”
They further emphasized, “The alleged conduct is unacceptable and violates the professional standards that all employees are expected to uphold.”
Interestingly, Nichols is a graduate of Liberty University, an evangelical Christian institution known for its strict policies encouraging students to refrain from sexual activities outside of marriage.
