Trump to Skip Son’s Wedding Due to Government Duties

On Friday, President Donald Trump announced that he will not be attending the wedding of Bettina Anderson, a prominent Palm Beach socialite, and his son, Donald Trump Jr., citing significant government responsibilities.

While Trump officially confirmed his absence on Friday, he had hinted at it a day earlier during a press briefing in the Oval Office. He mentioned that the ongoing situation in Iran, along with other pressing initiatives, would likely hinder his travel to the Bahamas for the ceremony.

“He wants me to go, but it’s just a small, personal event. I’m right in the thick of it—I mentioned that I have this issue with Iran. If I attend, I face criticism; if I don’t, it’s the same. So, I’m reluctantly saying no. However, I think highly of him and hope they have a wonderful marriage,” Trump shared with reporters on Thursday.

Donald Jr. previously referred to his engagement to Anderson as a “huge victory” back in December.

This marks Donald Trump Jr.’s second marriage. He was previously wed to Vanessa Trump, with whom he shares five children, and was also engaged to Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece.

Interestingly, Don Jr. and Anderson were legally married on Thursday in Palm Beach County, Florida. They signed their marriage certificate, which was handled by Brad McPherson, a real estate attorney close to the Trump family.

According to sources, the couple aimed to keep their wedding details private to maintain a low-key atmosphere, easing both safety concerns and the logistical challenges that often accompany high-profile events.

“I would have loved to celebrate with my son, Don Jr., and the latest member of the Trump family, but responsibilities with my future wife, Bettina, and my dedication to the country must take precedence. I believe it is crucial for me to stay in the White House during this important period. Congratulations to Don and Bettina!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
