Comedian Laura Clery Recalls Harrowing Near-Death Experience

Laura Clery recently reflected on what she described as the “scariest night” of her life after a near-fatal incident. In a heartfelt video shared on Instagram, she expressed that her “worst fears came true” when she found herself “stranded with a serious injury while alone at home with my two young children.”

At 39 years old, Clery shared her gratitude towards God and the first responders who came to her rescue after a towering 600-pound refrigerator toppled over, pinning her against the counter.

Incident Details

As she was preparing for bed, a massive refrigerator unexpectedly “bumped into me, pushing me onto the counter,” she explained. “I couldn’t move. I couldn’t breathe properly. It was impossible to get down, and I felt myself blacking out. The kids were in the house. I genuinely didn’t know if I would make it out alive.”

Fortunately, she had her cellphone in her pocket and managed to call 911. “Thank God I didn’t fall on top of the kids,” she added, recalling that it took three firefighters to lift the refrigerator off her. “I’m still shaking.”

In her post, she mentioned, “This was right after all the pain went away from the fentanyl. I’m leaving (immediately). I would like to thank the amazing firefighters who saved my life! Really.” She emphasized how they arrived quickly, burst through her garage door, and lifted the hefty refrigerator off her before transporting her to the trauma room.

Clery said, “I keep thinking about how this could have turned out differently, and I’m just so grateful. There are no broken bones, the kids are safe and sound, and I can walk… I’m so lucky!”

In closing, she expressed admiration for the first responders: “They were calm, kind, and handled everything like absolute heroes!”
