Trump Urges Middle Eastern Nations to Join Abraham Accords Amid Iran Negotiations

Former President Donald Trump has called on Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and other Middle Eastern nations to embrace the Abraham Accords as discussions regarding a deal with Iran continue.

In a Truth Social post on Monday, Trump shared details of a recent phone call he had on Saturday with leaders from various countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain. During this conversation, he emphasized the importance for these nations to join the Abraham Accords, which were first signed during his presidency.

“I told leaders like Mohammed bin Salman from Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Zayed from the UAE, and others that after the United States’ extensive efforts to solve this complex situation, these countries should at least consider: Signing the Abraham Accords simultaneously,” he stated.

The UAE and Bahrain were the inaugural signatories of the accord, established in 2020, aiming to normalize relations between Israel and various Arab states, which also include Kazakhstan, Morocco, and Sudan.

“Some individuals may have their reasons for hesitating, and that’s understandable, but the majority seem ready to align with Iran in a way that could lead to a historic moment,” Trump noted.

He specifically called on Saudi Arabia and Qatar to take a leadership role by signing the Accords, suggesting that if they don’t, they should abstain from participating in any potential peace agreement with Iran.

“This agreement will be more respected than any other ever signed anywhere. Its significance will be unmatched,” he remarked.

“It’s crucial that Saudi Arabia and Qatar lead with their signatures, and others should follow. If they hesitate, that would reflect badly on their commitment,” he added.

Trump mentioned discussions around possibly including Iran in the Abraham Accords as well.

“After speaking with several of the notable leaders, they expressed a willingness to welcome Iran into the Accords once our agreement is signed. That would be remarkable!” he wrote.

“This agreement is destined to be the most pivotal one these distinguished nations will ever endorse, especially considering it involves countries typically in conflict. Nothing will ever top this,” he concluded.
