Israeli Forces Target Senior Hamas Official

Israeli Defense Forces announced the elimination of a high-ranking Hamas official involved in financing the organization’s military operations. Ihab Krizim was reportedly killed on Tuesday in Khan Yunis, the second-largest city in the Gaza Strip.

This action was part of a broader strategy to undermine Hamas’s recovery efforts. The military indicated that Krizim’s role involved managing substantial funds directed toward Hamas’s military wing, and he had also been violating ceasefire agreements.

The military stated, “His actions facilitated the planning and execution of attacks against Israeli forces and civilians in Gaza.” They asserted that removing Krizim would significantly hinder Hamas’s efforts to regroup and strengthen its capabilities.

Officials shared video evidence showing the moments leading up to the strike on the vehicle carrying Krizim, which ignited into flames. Alongside him, another Hamas figure, Mohammed al-Habash, involved in weapon manufacturing, also lost his life during the attack.

Moreover, Mohamed Odeh, a significant player in Hamas’s military network, was killed that same day along with his family. Odeh was noted for his role in the October 2023 attacks and had only recently taken over Hamas’s intelligence unit after his predecessor was killed in a previous Israeli operation.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s office remarked, “Odeh was accountable for various violent acts against Israeli citizens and soldiers.”

Defense Minister Israel Katz expressed satisfaction over both operatives’ deaths, emphasizing that these actions put the terrorists deep into adversity.

Following the airstrikes, a mass funeral took place in Gaza City, where mourners expressed their grief vocally and through gunfire. The deceased were honored with Hamas flags draped over their bodies.

This escalation occurred just as the Muslim community readied for the Eid al-Adha holiday, a time notably known for its traditions and communal gatherings.
