Texas Man Charged with Threats Against Turning Point USA Event
A Texas man, Jacob Wenske, 26, has been charged with a third-degree felony for allegedly making terroristic threats related to an upcoming Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event and against its CEO, Erica Kirk.
The investigation started after a local newspaper shared a Facebook post about the TPUSA Women’s Leadership Summit, where Kirk is set to speak. This summit is scheduled from June 5th to 7th at the San Antonio Marriott River Center.
Wenske reportedly commented on the post, stating, “I know exactly where to bomb.” Additionally, he expressed an eagerness to “become a squire of the bodyguard” in another comment. Authorities have noted troubling language in his posts, including a chilling email that read, “Death to Erica Kirk and all the speakers out there!! America will continue to live without the scum of this earth.” He also suggested violence at future TPUSA events.
TPUSA spokesperson Matt Shupe emphasized that the organization treats all threats seriously, stressing that the safety of their participants and staff is their top priority. He reassured that all events have multiple safety measures in place, and they’re determined to move forward despite these threats.
Interestingly, Kirk, who assumed the leadership of TPUSA after her husband, Charlie Kirk, was murdered during a TPUSA event in Utah, has faced numerous threats since taking office. Just last month, she had to cancel her appearance at a university event due to “very serious threats.” The ongoing situation highlights the challenges faced by individuals in leadership positions within politically charged environments.
