Jimmy Kimmel Critiques Spencer Pratt’s Mayoral Bid
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel didn’t hold back on Wednesday when he criticized Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt, calling him a “screaming bastard” and advising viewers against supporting the Republican contender.
“This hole has now produced Spencer Pratt,” Kimmel remarked, suggesting that America needs to recover from the damage caused by former President Donald Trump. He questioned whether they really wanted to repeat past mistakes in Los Angeles by electing another self-absorbed individual. “The mayoral position shouldn’t be someone’s first job; managing a $14 billion budget is no small task, and Pratt is not the right person for it,” he stated.
Pratt, who lost his home during the 2025 Palisades wildfire, has been vocal about representing LA residents. He launched his campaign in January, aiming to remove the incumbent, Mayor Karen Bass, due to her handling of the fire situation.
Kimmel dubbed Pratt a “reality TV screaming guy” who gained notoriety after his house caught fire. “It’s ironic because while he didn’t have private insurance and was skeptical about climate change, he’s understandably upset about losing his home. People pay attention to him because he’s a somewhat known individual,” Kimmel commented.
While acknowledging that many voters are frustrated with LA’s current leadership and that the city is in a challenging position, Kimmel pointed out that Pratt doesn’t appear to have any solutions.
Kimmel noted with concern that Pratt was polling second among candidates. “If he remains among the top two after next week’s primary, he will be one of the contenders for mayor. So if you’re not keen on voting for Karen Bass on June 2nd, I get it. But think about choosing someone else—ideally, someone who isn’t just looking to jump back on TV and waste your time and money,” he advised.
In response to Kimmel’s remarks, Pratt tweeted, “This is my family home. This is why I’m running. It’s coming for your home, too. If it’s not through fires, then from issues like addiction and corruption from people like Karen Bass. Wake up and vote.” He also quipped, “Jimmy is secretly voting for me,” on social media.
Some Hollywood figures have spoken out against Pratt’s candidacy. Lisa Rinna from “The Real Housewives” expressed her discontent, stating the country has already seen enough reality stars in political roles and wasn’t keen on witnessing another one. “I’m not a reality star, though,” she claimed in a recent interview, emphasizing her reluctance to revisit that scenario.
Drew Carey, the host of “The Price Is Right,” also weighed in on Pratt’s campaign, urging supporters to rethink their choices. “If you’re angry and frustrated, that’s justifiable, but please support someone with competence rather than a dishonorable person,” he expressed.
