Recent audio has come to light indicating that police received two calls regarding domestic violence allegations linked to Josh Jacobs, a player for the Packers. One call was made from within his home.
The audio reveals a dispatcher stating that he heard “screams and screams” during the call made from the Jacobs residence.
“There’s stuff being thrown, the lines are open,” the dispatcher informed officers, suggesting, “It’s probably a man and a woman.”
Just a few minutes later, another call about the incident was received from a worried neighbor.
“A neighbor just called and said his neighbor was assaulted,” the dispatcher relayed.
Although police responded to the scene, they later reported that the suspect, identified as Jacobs, was no longer at the Wisconsin home and had departed in a Mercedes G-Wagon.
However, authorities had the vehicle tracked by a license plate reader and stated, “At this time, our intention is to have the vehicle stopped if we see it.”
Even though the incident reportedly took place on Saturday morning, Jacobs was arrested on multiple charges the following Tuesday.
Jacobs, who is 28, was booked into the Brown County Jail facing charges of domestic violence, assault, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, strangulation and suffocation, and victim intimidation, according to a release from the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department.
The release noted, “This remains an active and ongoing investigation. No further information will be released at this time.”
The Packers acknowledged the situation surrounding Jacobs but stated they would not comment further due to ongoing legal matters.
Jacobs has denied the allegations through his attorneys, who said, “Josh vehemently denies the charges. This matter is in the early stages of an investigation, and important evidence has not yet been released. We ask for fairness and restraint as the judicial process progresses.”
Jacobs was selected by the Raiders in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft and is now entering his eighth NFL season, with his third year in Green Bay.
Last season, the three-time Pro Bowler had a somewhat disappointing year with the Packers, scoring 15 rushing touchdowns and amassing 929 yards over 15 games.
