Worker familiar with Savannah aimed at Nancy Guthrie, expert suggests

FBI experts challenge claims about the kidnapping theory in the Nancy Guthrie case

Investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance

LAS VEGAS — A prominent forensic scientist recently shared insights with Fox News Digital regarding the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, who they believe may have been targeted by local individuals due to assumptions about her family’s wealth.

Barbara Butcher, a veteran medical death investigator and host of Oxygen’s “Death Investigators,” remarked during Crimecon Las Vegas that it’s surprising anyone would engage with a woman of her age, yet she speculates that a nearby handyman or service worker might have recognized Mrs. Guthrie as the mother of Savannah Guthrie. This recognition could have led them to wrongly assume she was wealthy.

Butcher expressed concern over the absence of a credible ransom demand, suggesting that Guthrie might have succumbed to shock or pre-existing health conditions shortly after her supposed kidnapping. She raised the possibility that the suspects might have hidden evidence or vanished before the case could be properly addressed.

She further reflected that as time passes without any authentic ransom requests or significant information, it’s increasingly likely that Mrs. Guthrie passed away soon after her abduction, potentially due to fear, shock, or heart issues. “It’s just horrifying to consider that the kidnapper, finding nothing, might have regrettably disposed of her body in the desert,” she added.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was abducted from her Tucson, Arizona home in the early hours of February 1. She is the mother of “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie, whose family indicated their willingness to pay a ransom demand submitted to TMZ during February.

Despite these developments, Nancy Guthrie’s current location remains unknown.

The family is urging anyone with relevant information to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI. There is a collective reward exceeding $1.2 million for details that could help resolve the case. Anonymous tips can also be directed to Tucson’s Crime Stoppers at 88-Crime (1-520-882-7463).
