Extremist Posts Resurface for Mamdani’s Endorsed Candidate

A recent investigation by CNN has revealed connections between New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani and a left-wing candidate, Dalializa Avila Chevalier. Mamdani endorsed Chevalier in her bid to succeed Congresswoman Adriano Espaillat in New York’s 13th Congressional District.

Chevalier, who is 32 and works as a doctoral student and investigator in the public defender’s office, has come under scrutiny for deleting past social media posts that called for the abolition of police, prisons, and borders. Some of her posts even supported the confiscation of private property and the nationalization of industries—policies that align with those in countries like Venezuela or Cuba.

One now-deleted post stated, “We are going to defund and abolish it. Nothing can weaken our movement.” Another message declared, “This means a complete shutdown of the police. Period.” There was also a provocative line about expressing disdain for the NYPD in a particularly colorful manner.

Chevalier has not only criticized the Democratic National Committee, labeling it a “Big Fraudulent White Status Quo Bitch,” but also made disparaging remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris, stating simply, “No nuance to add. Fuck Kamala Harris.”

While her extremist past has been reported by outlets like the New York Post and Politico, CNN’s latest findings dug deeper, uncovering even more deleted tweets.

In response to the resurfacing of these posts, Chevalier expressed frustration at her opponent for focusing on old social media activity. She stated, “My opponent wants to live in the past. He is relitigating social media posts from six months ago.” She emphasized her growth since then and her commitment to focusing on the community’s future.

Mamdani has doubled down on his support for Chevalier. He insists that she’ll advocate for working families in Congress, stating, “In Congress, she will stand up against corporate greed, bad landlords and Washington, D.C.’s broken political system.”

The Democratic primary between Chevalier and Espaillat is scheduled for June 23.
