Koe Wetzel Reflects on Personal Transformation

Country musician Koe Wetzel recently shared a significant moment of self-realization during an appearance on a podcast. He recalled a fishing trip with a friend where, after a long day outdoors, he returned home and caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. It was then that he felt he had “let himself go.”

Wetzel expressed, “I came back and looked at myself and thought, oh my gosh, I’ve let myself go. I stepped on the scale, you know, and I realized I need to figure this out.” It seems that the artist faced a turning point about two years ago regarding his health.

He discussed how Jelly Roll’s wife influenced her husband’s weight loss journey—and indirectly inspired Wetzel’s decision to shed some pounds himself. Wetzel has incorporated peptides into his routine, which he believes have helped him eat cleaner and spend more time at the gym. Interestingly, he noted this approach has also contributed to reducing his alcohol intake.

“As for drinking, I probably drink about two or three times a month now,” he mentioned. He plans to stretch out the time between drinks, aiming for a couple of weeks, while committing to a clean diet and hitting the gym five times a week. He even mentioned enjoying quiet mornings watching the sunrise to kickstart his day.

As a Texas-born artist, Wetzel is known for blending country with rock, grunge, and hip-hop, creating what many describe as “Texas country rock.” He has built a dedicated fan base through his independent releases, like “Noise Complaint” and “Harold Saul High,” before signing with Columbia Records in 2020, where he released “Sellout.”

During a conversation with Bunny Zoe, he reflected on the alternative paths his life might have taken. He humorously suggested that if music hadn’t worked out, he might be pouring concrete back in East Texas.

He revealed how he had prayed for guidance about his career choice, wanting to know if music was his true calling. “If not, I’d either go to the oil patch in West Texas or go back to East Texas and pour concrete,” he recounted. Following the success of his hit “Noise Complaint,” he felt reassured that he was on the right path. “That was kind of a moment for me, you know, this is your calling,” he concluded.
