Knicks’ Foreseen Glory

A remarkable story emerged this week as a Long Island resident gained attention for predicting in his 2020 high school yearbook that the Knicks would make it to the NBA Finals in 2026.

Evan Puifer from Kings Park shared an image of his yearbook quote—“Knicks, No. 6. 2026 NBA Finals”—which quickly went viral, accumulating over 5 million views in just one day.

The 23-year-old explained to the Post his reasoning behind this specific forecast. “It’s really simple. Six Knicks in 2026 rhymes incredibly well,” he noted.

A dedicated Knicks fan, Evan recalled how his parents reacted when he first showed them the yearbook six years ago. “It was hilarious because my parents were like, ‘Evan, why?’ Why would you do this?” he recounted.

Now, however, they are reconsidering their earlier skepticism, even comparing their son to a modern-day Nostradamus. “My dad wonders if I’m even human,” he said, chuckling.

With a notable high school background that included a position on the Business Honor Society’s board, Puifer intentionally decided against highlighting his achievements in the yearbook, opting instead to spotlight his Knicks quotation. “They gave us a choice, and I said, ‘No, I just want this,’” he explained.

He humorously added, “What if this actually happened? Other people have long listings of their accomplishments, and I could get it right.” As the prospect of his 2020 prediction coming true seemed increasingly plausible, he shared a picture of the page with a childhood friend. “And I thought, ‘Imagine if this happened,’” he reflected.

Encouraged by classmates, he first posted the quote on his private Snapchat and later shared it on a sports platform boasting 10.4 million followers, which helped it go viral almost immediately.

Now a sales representative and a graduate of Adelphi University, Puifer hopes his prediction will catch the Knicks’ attention. “My friend said, ‘I’d be furious if the Knicks didn’t take me to a game or something,’” he mentioned.

He added, “I don’t really have expectations. It’s just a prediction, but if it happens, that would be pretty amazing.”
