Bill Maher Claps Back at Trump on “Real Time”

On a recent episode of “Real Time,” Bill Maher took some jabs at President Donald Trump after Trump labeled him a “fake laugh machine” and criticized his low ratings on Truth Social.

Maher responded with a quip of his own, pointing out that Trump’s approval rating sits at just 35 percent. “First of all, do you have a low rating? Your rating is 35 percent!” he exclaimed, prompting cheers from the audience as he continued to address Trump’s online comments during his monologue.

He also challenged Trump’s assertion that the laughs on his show are manufactured. “So, fake, fake laughing machine, can I take a picture of the audience?” Maher asked. The show even cut to footage of the audience applauding, which added to the humor. “So that should settle it,” he added, driving home his point.

Maher noted that he has grown used to being a target for Trump’s tweets, saying, “I can always tell when the president is in a bad mood because he starts tweeting about me.” He highlighted that Trump’s critiques, though often negative, seem to signify a sort of honor for him. “This week he said I was ‘lowering Bill Maher with a fake laugh machine,'” Maher remarked, referencing Trump’s comments boasting about his political wins while mentioning Maher as one of the “low-rating” late-night hosts.

In another part of his monologue, Maher poked fun at a reported phone call Trump had with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which Trump allegedly used strong language. “Did you see the phone call he had with Netanyahu? Wow, that language,” Maher quipped, keeping the tone light while touching on serious topics.

Despite the back-and-forth, there was no immediate comment from the Trump administration regarding these exchanges.
