Morgan Wallen Addresses Cancellation Controversy
Morgan Wallen is pushing back against “nonsense” rumors regarding his recent concert cancellation in Pittsburgh. The country artist was set to perform but had to call off the show due to bad weather conditions. On Saturday, he took to Instagram to clarify what really happened amid speculation that he left town before any official decision was made.
In a video shared on his Instagram Stories, Wallen explained, “My team came on the bus this morning and suggested we cancel the show after consulting with local authorities. I asked, ‘Why?’” He added that he was informed there would be high winds in the area, to which he responded by trusting his team’s judgment. “I get it; the wind might not be blowing yet,” he said. “But I have a big stage, and it can be dangerous for people around.”
Wallen expressed frustration about the misinformation circulating online. “There’s been a lot of falsehoods out there about me,” he stated. “I just wanted to set the record straight. My true fans know this isn’t how I usually operate, but I felt it was necessary to speak up and be careful.”
Earlier that day, he had notified fans about the cancellation on social media. “After discussions with local authorities and my team, we had no choice but to cancel due to severe weather forecasted for the day and night,” he wrote. “The safety of our fans and staff is our top priority.”
Reactions from fans were mixed. Some expressed disappointment and frustration over the cancellation, while others questioned its validity. One user noted with sarcasm, “It’s funny Wallen canceled because when I got off work at 11 PM, my car was dry. No rain in sight.” Another pointed out that the fallout from Saturday’s cancellation could severely impact Wallen’s reputation in the future.
Local media reported that officials from Acrisure Stadium were upset, claiming Wallen left town without a meeting and demanded the cancellation announcement while on a plane. There was no immediate response from Wallen’s representatives regarding these claims.
This cancellation comes shortly after another onstage incident where Wallen accidentally knocked over a piano during a performance due to a malfunction. A fan-captured video revealed his frustration as equipment failed while he was performing “Sand In My Boots.” Following the song, he was seen pushing the piano over.
