Trump Claims Iran Has Agreed Not to Pursue Nuclear Weapons
In a recent interview, President Donald Trump stated that Iran has “already agreed” not to pursue nuclear weapons. He expressed this during an appearance on the New York Post’s “Pod Force One” podcast, emphasizing the importance of addressing Iran’s activities, regardless of their current standing.
“We had to say we’ve got to do something about Iran… they have already agreed not to have nuclear weapons,” he remarked. When the host, Miranda Devine, probed him on the issue, he reinforced his claim, saying, “Oh yeah, they agreed to that.” However, he did acknowledge that Iran has the ability to change its stance at any moment.
“I mean, they could change their minds,” he noted, but insisted that this agreement was a significant development in negotiations.
When questioned about a report indicating he was frustrated with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump responded candidly. He reflected on their conversations, indicating he had expressed his concerns about Netanyahu’s conflicts with Lebanon. “I can’t say I’m angry. I was a little upset that he was always fighting with Lebanon,” Trump described, adding that he valued their working relationship and recognized the contributions of the United States in their mutual efforts.
Furthermore, President Trump dismissed claims of halted negotiations with Iran, asserting on Truth Social that dialogue has continued without interruption, stating, “Fake news reports that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States stopped dialogue several days ago are false.” He added that discussions had taken place just days earlier and urged Iran to reach a deal, emphasizing the lengthy history of their negotiations.
“Nobody knows where they’re going to go, but it’s time to come to some kind of deal,” he concluded, highlighting the urgency after decades of diplomatic interactions.
