Karmelo Anthony jurors deeply disturbed by graphic autopsy image

During Carmelo Anthony’s murder trial, graphic autopsy images of Austin Metcalfe, a Texas teenager, were presented, resulting in a visible shock among jurors while Anthony turned away from the unsettling visuals.

One juror gasped and another covered her mouth as a photo displaying Metcalfe’s body, with a significant stab wound to the chest and a damaged heart, was displayed, according to reports.

The family of the 17-year-old victim left the courtroom in Collin County, McKinney, Texas, during the coroner’s distressing testimony, which included alarming pictures.

Meanwhile, the 19-year-old accused looked down when the graphic evidence was shown.

Dr. Elizabeth Ventura, the coroner, informed the jurors that Metcalfe had a “gaping” two-inch wound that penetrated deep enough to injure his chest bone and the right side of his heart.

Anthony is charged with stabbing Metcalfe once in the chest with a semi-serrated folding knife during a dispute at a track and field event in Frisco on April 2, 2025, regarding seating at Kuykendall Stadium.

Metcalfe, a student from Frisco Memorial High School, had asked Anthony, then a student at Frisco Centennial High School, to leave the space under the Memorial team’s tent in the bleachers.

Despite multiple requests from fellow students, Anthony refused to move and escalated the situation by telling Metcalfe to “touch it and find out,” even threatening to take something from his backpack.

Witnesses testified that when Metcalfe pushed Anthony, he responded by pulling out a knife and stabbing him once.

Metcalfe’s twin brother, Hunter, along with others, attempted to revive him, while Anthony discarded the knife and tried to flee the scene until held back by coaches until police arrived.

Anthony has pleaded not guilty, claiming he acted in self-defense, as he argues that Metcalfe initiated the confrontation.

By Saturday, prosecutors had concluded their witness testimony, with Anthony’s defense starting the following Monday.

The trial may reach a conclusion by the end of this week, with Anthony potentially facing a life sentence if found guilty.
