Karmelo Anthony Fans Start Petition Demanding the Arrest of Austin Metcalf's Brother

Shortly after the GiveSendGo fund supporting Carmelo Anthony was made “private,” advocates for the teenager involved in a deadly incident are now circulating a petition seeking the arrest of Hunter Metcalf, the brother of Austin Metcalf.

This petition has garnered fewer than 50 signatures so far and alleges that Hunter played a role in his brother’s death by “reportedly assaulting” Anthony.

“As members of America’s Black community, we feel that the injustices we face daily have reached a breaking point,” the petition asserts. “Our community is exhausted by a cycle of violence and discrimination that often goes unaddressed by a justice system that tends to overlook our struggles.” The report references a troubling event where Anthony was supposedly attacked. Austin Metcalf lost his life in this tragic episode, which highlights the broader challenge of racial inequality in the U.S., sparking calls for immediate action.

“Hunter Metcalf’s attack on Carmelo Anthony is linked to the death of his twin brother and should not be overlooked. For the public to trust the justice system, it’s crucial that he faces consequences. We require an arrest and a thorough examination of the incident, along with a demand for all video evidence from April 2, 2025, to be released. Transparency and accountability are vital for understanding what transpired.”

In a prior ruling, Anthony was convicted of murder concerning the April 2, 2025, death of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf.

Attorneys defending Anthony ultimately opted for a self-defense argument, which the jury felt unnecessary, as several witnesses—including one called by the defense—contended that Anthony instigated the altercation, not Metcalf. Additional testimonies indicated that Hunter Metcalf did not intimidate Anthony or engage in any “group behavior.”

After several days of testimony aiming to uphold their self-defense claims, Anthony’s legal team suggested the jury consider a manslaughter charge, which is a lesser accusation than murder.

Ultimately, the jury dismissed the manslaughter option and rejected the notion that Anthony acted out of “sudden passion” rather than premeditated intent.

On Tuesday, Anthony received a 35-year prison sentence, with the possibility of parole after serving 17 and a half years.
