New video shows more information about Knicks fan bothering Victor Wembanyama at Spurs hotel

The latest video has shed light on the incident involving Knicks fans and Victor Wembanyama.

On Wednesday night, initial footage surfaced showing the Spurs player being struck by an unidentified object. However, subsequent videos seem to confirm that it was indeed an egg that flew past Wembanyama’s head as he entered the Ritz-Carlton hotel.

After the Spurs suffered a dramatic collapse, losing a 29-point lead in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, the 22-year-old attempted to duck inside the hotel while a crowd of Knicks fans shouted at him and his team.

With fans loudly chanting “Wenbee,” security quickly whisked Wembanyama away into the hotel.

By early Thursday, displeased fans took to X to voice their opinions on the situation.

“As a Knicks fan, I truly dislike this. I’m not a fan of what Wemby is doing on the court—it frustrates me. But, you know, the competition should stay within the lines. Sports-related anger shouldn’t spill outside the arena. Winning and losing should come with dignity, no matter who you are. It shouldn’t be trivialized,” wrote X user @BrettErmilio.

Another user, @LakersPixie, remarked, “At the end of the day, it’s just basketball. We shouldn’t dehumanize the players involved.”

This isn’t the first time concerns about violence and safety among Knicks fans have arisen during the NBA Finals. After a Game 2 viewing party outside Madison Square Garden, 26 people were arrested. Then, during the Game 3 gathering at Bryant Park, another 21 were taken into custody, and five police officers suffered injuries from thrown objects.

For Wembanyama, who is viewed as the biggest star on the Spurs, this has been a challenging time in New York. Following a controversial no-call for a flagrant foul after he pushed Jalen Brunson in Game 3, he’s become something of a public enemy in the city.

Despite the chaos, Wembanyama managed to score 24 points and grab 13 rebounds in Game 4, although he did miss a critical free throw that would have helped keep the Knicks in the game.

Facing elimination, the Spurs are now gearing up for Game 5 on Saturday as the series shifts back to San Antonio.
