“Worrying if accurate”: Glenn Beck uncovers the disturbing truth revealed by the Karmelo Anthony trial

Carmelo Anthony Sentenced for Murder

On June 9, Carmelo Anthony, 19, received a 35-year prison sentence after being found guilty of murder. The conviction stems from an incident on April 2, 2025, when he fatally stabbed 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, a track athlete from a competing high school. This occurred during a track and field meet in Frisco, Texas, where Anthony, a Centennial High School student, stabbed Metcalf in the chest during an argument.

Anthony’s defense claimed that he acted in self-defense, despite Metcalf being unarmed at the time.

Although the prosecution and defense maintained that race had nothing to do with the crime, public perception surrounding the incident has largely focused on racial elements. This was highlighted by the fact that Anthony is black and Metcalf was white, along with the absence of black jurors during the trial.

In a statement, Glenn Beck commented, “They want you to see a dead boy, a knife, and even a testimony. They just want you to see color. They want you to see a black defendant and a white victim. That’s it.”

To illustrate this viewpoint, Beck aired an interview outside the courthouse with supporters of Anthony. One supporter, a black mother, was asked if the black community would accept evidence that Anthony wasn’t fighting for his life when he killed Metcalf. Her response was that they would support Anthony regardless, acknowledging that race played a role in the case.

Beck expressed disgust at her reaction, suggesting it’s possible to support someone without condoning their actions. He remarked, “Just as God is there when we mess up, we are there for our children. But God requires punishment.”

A clip from Hernandez featured a black pastor who mentioned praying for individuals involved in court proceedings, emphasizing that the court represents a “last frontier of racism.” He stated his belief that Anthony has a good heart but is misguided in how he views the issue.

Beck criticized the narrative that Anthony was simply defending himself, pointing out that Anthony had already been told multiple times to leave a situation before the stabbing occurred. Beck concluded by stating that the jury should be seen as a group that can set aside biases and evaluate the evidence fairly, regardless of race.
