Trump Critiques Netanyahu Following Israeli Attack on Beirut
President Donald Trump voiced criticism towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, expressing confusion over Israel’s recent attack on Beirut, Lebanon. In a post by Trey Yingst, FOX News’ chief foreign correspondent, he mentioned that Trump anticipated a deal with Iran would be finalized shortly, within a few hours.
Trump reportedly questioned Netanyahu’s decision during a phone conversation, urging him to refrain from any “further attacks.” Yingst relayed that the president explicitly asked Netanyahu, “What the hell are you doing?” following the incident.
In addition, Trump conveyed his intention to discourage Iran from retaliating with missile strikes against Israel. Yingst shared this information in his update.
On Truth Social, Trump remarked that Israel’s actions in Lebanon “should not have happened” and called for an end to any further Israeli assaults in the region. He also urged other nations not to retaliate against Israel.
Trump stated, “This morning’s Beirut attack should not have occurred, particularly on such a pivotal day as we near a peace agreement with Iran.” He acknowledged Israel’s right to defend itself but criticized the retaliatory actions as disproportionate to the minor threats they faced, emphasizing that nobody was harmed. He maintained that this critical peace process should remain uninterrupted as they near a significant agreement that could stabilize the region.
The Israeli attack followed Trump’s comments made prior, where he suggested that a “deal with Iran” would be signed soon. He further asserted that Iran no longer seeks nuclear weapons, clarifying their intentions against developing or purchasing them.
Trump concluded by stating that once the agreement is signed, the Strait of Hormuz would be open to all parties involved.
