Knicks Win Championship: Jeremy Sochan’s Celebration Steals the Show
The New York Knicks secured their first championship since 1973 on Saturday, much to the delight of fans and players alike. Among them, Jeremy Sochan, a recent addition to the team, seemed especially overjoyed.
Following the Knicks’ 94-90 victory over the Spurs in Game 5, videos of Sochan’s exuberant celebrations made the rounds on social media. One particularly memorable clip captured him attempting to climb the massive Larry O’Brien trophy in the Frostbank Center, which almost resulted in a tumble as he nearly lost his balance while teammate Jalen Brunson was being interviewed by Craig Melvin.
As Sochan first approached the trophy, it moved unexpectedly, causing a stir among onlookers. He managed to regain his footing, hopped onto the display, and posed for pictures, only to realize Brunson was engaged in an interview. With a grin, he cheered Brunson on for the entire duration.
In another viral moment, Sochan, still without his shirt, was filmed dancing in the locker room alongside his teammates, where he was captured munching on a steak directly off the bone.
But the festivities didn’t stop there. Once back in New York on Sunday, Sochan shared several Instagram stories, sporting an NBA championship cap and goggles while leaning out of the car window. In a comical moment, he lost his goggles as he reveled in the victory.
While Sochan’s role in the Finals was somewhat limited—he appeared only in the first three minutes of Game 4 and briefly in Game 5—it’s hard to overlook his excitement. After being waived by the Spurs in February, he signed a one-year contract with the Knicks, ensuring he would receive a championship ring regardless of the Finals outcome.
