Knicks championship parade 2026: start time, complete route, weather outlook, and schedule

The festivities are just getting started!

New York City is gearing up for what may turn out to be the biggest victory parade ever, honoring the Knicks this Thursday morning.

Mayor Zoran Mamdani shared the news following the Knicks’ impressive win against the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals.

As soon as the game wrapped up on Saturday, city officials jumped into action, organizing major events to commemorate this long-anticipated triumph.

“This might very well be the largest parade in New York City’s history,” Mamdani remarked on Monday. “And I think it really highlights the significance of this team to our city, especially after a 53-year wait.”

The Knicks secured their titles back in the early ’70s, but oddly enough, there weren’t any ticker-tape parades then.

Here’s what you need to know about the parade:

Parade Details — When does it start?

The parade is set to kick off at 10 a.m.

When should attendees arrive?

People are encouraged to get there as early as possible.

“We suggest arriving at least two hours in advance, though we know New Yorkers often show up even earlier,” the mayor added.

Parade Route — Where will it take place?

The march will start in the Battery Park neighborhood, proceeding about a mile north on Broadway, through the Canyon of Heroes, and ending at City Hall. There will be a ceremony where players will receive the key to the city.

Who might show up?

While it’s uncertain which celebrity Knicks fans will make an appearance, possibilities include notable figures like Spike Lee, Timothée Chalamet, and Ben Stiller. Mayor Mamdani will be present too, along with various state and city officials likely wanting to join in the celebration.

Best Viewing Spots

For the best views, standing along Broadway would be ideal for fans.

Weather Outlook

The morning is expected to be humid, with temperatures hitting the mid-80s. Thunderstorms could roll in later, according to AccuWeather.

“It won’t be as oppressive as the weekend, but conditions should generally favor the parade,” noted AccuWeather meteorologist Matt Benz on Monday.

Further updates on safety measures, road closures, and potential performances will be announced later this week ahead of Thursday’s festivities.
