Vice President J.D. Vance to Appear on “The View”
Vice President J.D. Vance is set to make his debut on ABC’s “The View” this Wednesday. He’ll be the third sitting vice president to join the daytime talk show.
“I think there’s a bit of an optimist in me. I believe that most people, maybe everyone, is worth talking to, even if I don’t agree with them,” Vance mentioned in an interview with FOX News Digital.
During the show, Vance will sit down with all six co-hosts, including Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, and Ana Navarro, to discuss his new book, “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith.” His appearance comes after his involvement in recent negotiations regarding a new deal with Iran during the Trump administration.
On preparing for the interview, Vance indicated he views it as a chance to engage in serious discussions, even with those who might have opposing views.
Vance emphasized, “My role as vice president is not just to connect with my supporters but also to reach out to those who might not have voted for me.” He seems hopeful about having productive conversations, though there’s a hint of skepticism in his tone.
This visit follows years of criticism from the show’s co-hosts, who have often challenged both him and his family since he became Trump’s running mate.
Co-host Joy Behar has expressed doubts about Vance’s capability to attract new voters, suggesting that he mirrors Trump too closely. Meanwhile, co-host Alyssa Farrar Griffin has indicated plans to question Vance about the financial elements of the new peace deal with Iran.
According to research by NewsBusters, the show’s guest lineup in 2025 featured only two conservatives among 341 guests, underscoring the show’s liberal leanings.
Vance is now the first Republican vice president to participate in “The View,” following Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. As he prepares for this notable appearance, it will be interesting to see how the conversation unfolds amidst the history of mixed responses to his political presence.
