Brunson Takes Center Stage in NYC
Everyone’s buzzing about Jalen Brunson these days, and yes, even in the local bodega.
On Saturday, Brunson’s Knicks celebrated a major victory, clinching the Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. This win marks their first championship since 1973—a pretty big deal.
Now, it seems Branson’s bodega order has also captured the spotlight.
A viral video, racking up over 5 million views, features kids’ influencer Kobe Cash prompting Brunson to share his bodega preferences.
“My bodega order? Well, first off, I’m not in the city right now, but if I were, I’d say peach Snapple, purple Doritos, and definitely the Everything Bagel with egg and cheese, hash browns and spicy mayo,” Brunson shared. “I make sure to toast it.”
Doritos even jumped onto the trend, tweeting, “Everyone’s better than purple Doritos until there’s a time when they’re better than purple Doritos,” alongside a nod to Brunson’s words: “Everyone’s better than Jalen Brunson until there’s a time when they’re better than Jalen Brunson.”
Now, the term “Branson Eggs and Cheese” is catching on across New York. Several bagel shops have started featuring Brunson’s favorite on their menus, adorning it on blue and orange Knicks bagels.
Bongiorno Bagels mentioned they’re seeing success with a new order they’ve coined “The Branson.”
“Branson is still selling like hotcakes!” the store announced online.
They even shared that “Branson Special sold 65 sandwiches today alone,” and added, “Yeah, he’s got it right. We’ll add it to the menu as soon as we can.”
Earlier this week, Brunson received the order when the Knicks appeared on the Today show.
Host Craig Melvin surprised Brunson, along with teammates Josh Hart, OG Anunoby, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Mikal Bridges, with bottles of Michael Jordan’s Cincoro Tequila, while Al Roker brought forth a tray of breakfast sandwiches.
Roker handed Towns a bottle and offered Brunson a sandwich, reassuring him that it was indeed his special order.
“Is this my order?” Brunson queried, and Roker confirmed it. “Oh, yeah,” Brunson replied, happily accepting the sandwich.
Towns couldn’t help but joke, “Branson eggs and cheese!”
