Lauren Silverman Remembers Her Pregnancy Journey
Lauren Silverman, the fiancée of Simon Cowell, recently shared her emotional experience of discovering she was pregnant and the media frenzy that followed, all while still married to another man. In a podcast interview titled “Happy Mama,” the 48-year-old opened up about the end of her previous marriage to Andrew Silverman and how she learned about her pregnancy with her and Cowell’s son, Eric, who is now 12.
She described the myriad of emotions she faced during that period, saying it was one of the hardest times in her life. “I don’t want to say I regret it, because I don’t regret anything. I wish it had happened differently…Of course I do,” she reflected.
Cowell and Silverman’s relationship became public in 2013, shortly after the news of her pregnancy broke, leading to a sensationalist backlash that resulted in her husband filing for divorce immediately. Silverman expressed how the scandal overshadowed her pregnancy experience, stating, “My first priority was to protect my son, Adam.” She vividly recalled the feeling of living under scrutiny, describing it as intense and overwhelming as she faced judgment everywhere she went, appearing on magazine covers and facing constant media attention.
However, despite the negativity surrounding their relationship, Silverman was sure that Cowell was the person she wanted to spend her life with. “Whatever it turned out to be, it was what it deserved,” she said. She acknowledged the mixed feelings people may have had toward her, admitting, “I don’t blame them… if I were in their shoes, I would think the same way.” She accepted her situation with a sense of resignation, saying, “I just keep my head down,” and moved forward with her life.
Now, twelve years later, Silverman feels she has fully processed her experiences and has learned to forgive herself. “I have done whatever I think is necessary to resolve this situation,” she noted, feeling indifferent to the judgments others may cast her way. “What people say and think is so awful that I don’t really care anymore,” she added, reflecting a sense of freedom.
The couple welcomed their son in February 2014, and they have been together since the scandal erupted. Cowell has said that becoming a father has significantly transformed his life. In a podcast, he described that moment he received the news from Silverman as life-altering, stating, “When I got the call from Lauren, it changed everything.” He admitted that his son “saved” him from a difficult period, where he felt emotionally lost.
Silverman and Cowell’s journey is a complicated tapestry of love, regret, and self-discovery, showcasing the intricate reality behind the glitz and glamour often portrayed in media narratives.
