Norway supporters create viral Viking row on Boston escalator during World Cup

Norwegian Fans Light Up Boston with Viking Spirit

In Boston, the Norwegian supporters are making quite the splash as they celebrate their first World Cup participation in 28 years. It’s a vibrant scene capitalizing on Viking traditions and even draws in locals with their synchronized “Viking Row.”

A video from South Station captures a lively group of these fans. You can see many donning Viking helmets and waving Norwegian flags, all performing synchronized rowing motions as if they were on a longship. The energy is infectious, and they all chime in with a spirited “Ho! Ho!” while riding an escalator, echoing the movements of Viking crews.

Jeremy Siegel, a journalist from WGBH in Boston, shared this footage, noting that the performance was truly one-of-a-kind. He remarked, “I’d add this to the list of things I’ve never seen and probably never will.”

People online quickly reacted, with one person commenting that their usual train rides felt incredibly dull in comparison. Another remarked humorously on how rowing an escalator wasn’t quite on their bingo card for 2026. Meanwhile, someone else simply stated, “This is the most Norwegian thing I’ve ever seen.”

However, not everyone was just enjoying the spectacle. A few viewers expressed some concern about the escalator’s handling of the show. “Who else was waiting for that flag to get stuck on the escalator?” one commented. Others echoed similar concerns, questioning how the fans managed to keep their capes and flags safe from getting caught in the mechanisms.

Boston isn’t just buzzing with Norwegian fans. The city is also seeing an influx of Scottish tourists, especially after Scotland’s recent 1-0 win over Haiti. Their supporters held a jubilant march to Fenway Park, where the Red Sox celebrated Scottish Heritage Night, merging traditions in a colorful display.

It’s a whirlwind of excitement as international fans bring their unique traditions to Boston, making for a captivating atmosphere as the World Cup unfolds.
