Tragic Passing of Actress Daveigh Chase
Actress Daveigh Chase, known for voicing Lilo in Disney’s beloved 2002 film “Lilo & Stitch,” has reportedly passed away at the age of 35. Her boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, shared with TMZ that Chase died following meningitis and a blood infection, which ultimately led to septic complications and her body shutting down. Earlier in June, she had to be hospitalized in Los Angeles due to malnutrition.
Chase’s talent wasn’t limited to film; she also reprised her role as Lilo in the “Lilo & Stitch” television series and voiced Chihiro Ogino in the U.S. dub of “Spirited Away.” She had a memorable performance as Samara Morgan in the horror classic “The Ring,” which earned her an MTV Movie Award for Best Villain.
Before her untimely death, a crowdfunding campaign had reportedly been initiated on GoFundMe, supposedly by her boyfriend. The page detailed some of her personal struggles, highlighting a challenging childhood and a complicated relationship with her family, noting that she faced bullying and sought safety and happiness in downtown Los Angeles.
The GoFundMe post expressed a deep commitment to Chase, stating, “When we met, I promised to protect her and give her the love and comfort she deserved. Together, we found moments of happiness and hope.”
It further mentioned her critical health situation, saying “Daveigh was diagnosed with meningitis and several serious blood infections… her condition has become critical, and the doctors have told me she may not have much time left.” The campaign aimed to raise $5,500 and saw an influx of donations shortly after her passing was made public.
Chase had a recurring role in the HBO series “Big Love,” where she portrayed Rhonda Volmer throughout its five seasons and appeared in 32 episodes. Her acting credits also include notable films and shows like “Donnie Darko,” “Beethoven’s 5th,” “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” “ER,” “Mercy,” and “Jack Goes Home.”
