Candidate backed by Trump promises to give congressional salary to Iraq War veteran

Anthony Constantino’s Generous Pledge to Veteran’s Family

Anthony Constantino, a Republican vying for a House seat and backed by President Trump, recently announced he will donate $174,000—equivalent to a year’s salary—to the family of Sergeant Eddie Ryan, a wounded veteran from the Iraq War. This pledge will stand regardless of the outcome in the New York 21st Congressional District race.

Dropped unexpectedly during a campaign event in Queensbury, New York, on June 10, the Sticker Mule CEO presented a handwritten note to Ryan’s family, committing to the donation, as reported by local news sources.

“From the start, I planned to donate my entire congressional salary,” Constantino shared with FOX News Digital. “Although my team had different suggestions, Sergeant Eddie Ryan came to mind instantly; he motivated me to push harder in this campaign.”

Constantino hopes this donation will encourage others to “fight for a brighter future” and support veterans. He spoke highly of Sergeant Ryan, mentioning how he’s an embodiment of resilience and patriotism despite facing serious challenges after being injured during combat.

In 2005, Ryan, a former Marine Corps sniper, was severely wounded in Iraq due to friendly fire, sustaining two gunshot wounds to the head and dealing with ongoing difficulties in motor and language skills, according to reports.

Constantino recounted meeting Ryan and his family briefly earlier this year, a moment that resonated deeply with him. He described Ryan as someone who embodies a love for America and maintains a positive outlook even after his struggles. “Despite his injuries, he says he would do it all over again, wearing a smile,” Constantino remarked.

Ryan expressed surprise at Constantino’s announcement, saying he’s still a bit skeptical about the pledge’s realization. “I’m still not convinced,” he noted after learning about the donation.

Currently, Constantino is competing against state Rep. Robert Smullen in the Republican primary slated for June 23 to succeed U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik. He has invested millions of his own funds into his campaign, positioning it as a challenge against the political status quo.

“This is my chance to help steer the country in a positive direction after witnessing firsthand the issues with the political system,” Constantino explained. “I felt compelled to use my resources to combat it and build a brighter future.”

Earlier in the year, President Trump endorsed Constantino in his bid for Stefanik’s seat, praising him as a dedicated patriot on social media.
