JD Vance: Trump has an ‘incredible’ ability to read people
Vice President J.D. Vance shared some insights into Donald Trump’s distinctive talent for understanding people during his appearance on Sean Hannity’s “Hangouts” podcast. Vance discussed how Trump can gauge whether individuals are acting with sincerity or purely for personal gain.
“He has the best instincts about people of anyone I’ve ever met,” Vance mentioned on the new episode of the podcast. “It’s almost like a spiritual intuition for him regarding truthfulness.” He expressed ongoing amazement at Trump’s skill in deciphering people’s real motives.
“He knows when someone is trying to deceive him… that’s pretty interesting to me,” Vance added.
He noted that many influential figures he encounters, including CEOs and global leaders, often don’t possess the same level of intuition as Trump.
“He’s the president of the United States, right? There are always people who come to the White House with ulterior motives,” Vance explained. “He has an incredible ability to detect if someone’s request is for the benefit of America or merely for their own interests.”
Vance also reflected on his journey of understanding, recalling a time when he thought he had all the answers. He described how this experience reshaped his views.
“I became quite arrogant in what I knew,” he said. “My grandmother, who was incredibly wise despite her lack of formal education, often challenged my notions. I used to think of her as just a simple country person.”
He contrasted his past beliefs, recalling how he labeled himself an atheist and felt superior to those around him, including his grandmother, whom he underestimated.
Additionally, Vance criticized elite institutions, particularly universities, for promoting what he termed a “hyper-rational” mindset that tends to overlook intuition and life experience. He suggested that the very experts, including in military and economic fields, who claimed to be knowledgeable ended up contributing to the nation’s challenges.
“A lot of negative opinions about Donald Trump came from these so-called experts who thought they had it all figured out,” Vance said. “They’re the same group that caused many of our problems and didn’t learn from those mistakes.”
Hannity’s full interview with Vance, discussing his Appalachian roots, the upcoming 2028 presidential election, and various other topics, is available on platforms like YouTube and Spotify.
