JD Vance discloses Donald Trump's guidelines for attire and his aversion to brown shoes

Vance Speaks on Trump’s Dress Code for Cabinet

Vice President J.D. Vance is shedding light on the strict dress code set by President Donald Trump for his Cabinet. This includes some unique rules, particularly a notable aversion to brown shoes.

In a recent episode of “Hangout with Sean Hannity,” Vance shared that Trump’s traditional style reflects his belief that public officials should honor the institutions they represent. “The president feels that he should dress appropriately for the office,” Vance stated, adding it’s quite an old-school approach.

Trump emphasizes professionalism, in stark contrast to many contemporary politicians. Vance noted that the president typically opts for a navy suit, black shoes, and a stiff tie, insisting on this standard for his team. “You can always count on him wearing navy and black,” he mentioned. He also humorously remarked that if some officials dared to wear brown shoes, Trump wouldn’t hesitate to comment on their choices.

Interestingly, earlier this year, Trump confessed in an interview that he sometimes buys new shoes for officials when they have issues with their footwear. “If they mention a problem, I just say, ‘Let’s buy you some shoes,’” he quipped.

Vance recounted a moment during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, where dress code became an awkward topic. After a journalist asked Zelenskiy why he wasn’t in a suit, a later meeting saw him dressed more formally. Trump even chimed in, acknowledging the positive change.

“That wasn’t the best moment for him,” Vance shared, referring to that earlier exchange but added that it eventually improved the relations between the two countries.

He also reflected on a time when Trump critiqued his son Don Jr.’s outfit during a 9/11 memorial event, pointing out a particularly wide collar. “You could tell it was a bit of a bargain,” Vance joked, emphasizing how he prefers sticking to navy suits and classic styles himself.
