Leader of Antifa attack on ICE facility receives surprising sentence — 7 others also sentenced

Sentencing of Antifa Group Members in Texas

The Ministry of Justice has reported on the sentencing of an Antifa-linked group convicted for an assault on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Alvarado, Texas. This incident occurred during the 2025 Independence Day celebrations and involved numerous serious charges.

In total, 16 individuals have faced charges related to the attack, including property damage and an incident where a police officer was shot in the neck.

On Tuesday, the Justice Department revealed that the group’s leader, Benjamin Song, received a significant sentence of 100 years in prison. Additionally, seven other members were handed a cumulative 450 years of prison time, coinciding with the one-year anniversary of the attack. This marked a notable point, as it represented the first conviction under the Presidential order from September 2025, which classified Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization.

Of the other sentences, five defendants received 50-year sentences, while two were sentenced to 30 and 70 years, respectively. Their convictions included various serious offenses, such as rioting, attempted murder, and the use of explosives.

The federal prosecution presented an extensive case, showcasing 216 exhibits and testimonies from 46 witnesses over 12 days in a Fort Worth court. Evidence indicated that Song played a major role in acquiring and distributing firearms among his co-defendants, even recruiting members at shooting ranges. Some defendants were involved in producing and distributing insurrectionary materials referred to as “zines.”

During sentencing, Chief Justice Reed O’Connor described the defendants’ employment of terror and violence as an assault on democracy. One individual received a suspended sentence and will face sentencing on July 1st, alongside seven others who pled guilty to providing material assistance to terrorists.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche emphasized the court’s decisive action, stating that individuals who perpetrate attacks against federal entities would face relentless prosecution. He remarked that violent extremism has no place in the nation.

In a contrasting note, Song’s lawyer portrayed the defendants as simply passionate young individuals aiming to make their voices heard.
