Disturbing Details in Child Pornography Case Involving Pride Group Founder

New information has emerged following the arrest of Travis J. Longo, a drag queen and founder of a Pride organization in central New York, on child pornography charges. This case is quite unsettling.

Longo, 46, from Cazenovia, faces allegations of engaging in a “pattern” of sexually explicit communication with children under the age of twelve.

Details previously kept under wraps have now been revealed by prosecutors, including the discovery of concerning content on Longo’s iPhone 17 Pro Max. Reports indicate that among the findings was a photo of child sexual abuse involving a child aged between 5 and 7, along with three videos featuring young children.

Additionally, authorities found chat messages on Longo’s phone where he expressed a sexual interest in children, including one he personally knew.

In 2024, Longo was elected to the Cazenovia School District Board of Education and received praise from LGBTQ+ advocates as one of the first openly drag queens to hold public office.

Initially charged with four counts of misdemeanor endangerment to a child, his case has escalated with an indictment on charges of receipt and possession of child pornography. If found guilty, he could face up to 20 years in prison and be required to register as a sex offender.

Longo established Cazenovia Pride, an organization advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, but the entity has since disbanded, opting to cancel its upcoming Pride Parade amid these serious allegations.

The school board has unanimously voted for Longo’s resignation and set a deadline for him to comply before taking further steps.

At drag shows, he performed under the persona “Anita Buffem,” gaining a following on social media, including an Instagram account filled with posts.

In November 2025, Longo had been invited to speak at the Colgate University Women’s Research Center about his experiences both as a drag performer and a school board member. During that time, he commented on societal expectations and shared his views on personal identity.

This increasingly troubling situation raises many questions and reactions from the community, highlighting the complexities of public figures and the challenges faced by advocacy organizations in light of such incidents.
