Reckless Driving Incident in Dolores Park
A 24-year-old named Justice Ray has been arrested following his alleged reckless driving in Dolores Park, which included a police pursuit across San Francisco. According to authorities, he faced multiple charges stemming from the incident.
The trouble kicked off around 8 p.m. on Saturday when a witness reported that a vehicle had recklessly driven through the park earlier that day.
The car was seen tearing up the grass and driving erratically, despite the presence of pedestrians in the area.
By Monday afternoon, police had eyes on the suspect vehicle again. At about 3:40 p.m., officers from the Tenderloin Police Department noticed it speeding south on Van Ness Avenue.
Officers tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused to stop and briefly exited the car before continuing to drive in what police described as a blatant disregard for public safety. However, this attempt to evade the police didn’t last long.
Minutes later, officials found the same vehicle parked at Turk and Larkin streets. Ray allegedly ignored commands and took off again, eventually stopping at Post and Webster streets.
This time, police managed to take him into custody without further incident. Two passengers who were in the car were later released after the investigation.
The arrest generated buzz online, with one Reddit user humorously retracting their earlier claim that the police had done nothing about the reckless driving incident in Dolores Park. Others chimed in, commenting on the behavior of drivers in the area.
Ray now faces charges including reckless driving, resisting arrest, driving illegally in a bus lane, and operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
The investigation remains active, and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the San Francisco Police Department.
