George Conway’s Primary Setback

George Conway, known for co-founding the Lincoln Project, finished fifth in the recent primary, trailing behind an unknown candidate.

In New York’s 12th District, Conway garnered only 6.1% of the vote, while Nina Schwalbe captured 7.1% to secure fourth place. Democratic Rep. Mika Lasher emerged victorious over Rep. Alex Boaz in a closely contested race and is poised to take the nomination to replace Rep. Jerry Nadler in the general election this November.

Schwalbe, who holds a doctorate in public health, has made lowering drug prices a key aspect of her campaign. According to her campaign site, she has previously worked at the United Nations where she “secured recognition for same-sex couples” and played a role in delivering millions of vaccine doses during the Biden administration.

Conway’s campaign was centered on his disdain for President Trump and the movement associated with him, which he termed “Trumpism.” At a protest in October 2025, he was seen wearing a shirt that read “I am Antifa.”

The Lincoln Project co-founder has often criticized Trump in media appearances, becoming emotional during a podcast discussion about him in April 2025. “This is a fight for democracy, and it makes me angry because some people just don’t care,” he expressed, visibly upset.

In a humorous turn, Conway shared a video of himself performing a song about a former Justice Department official who had thrown a Subway sandwich at an officer in August 2025. He joked in his song, “I threw the sandwich, but I didn’t throw the condiment,” all while playing a guitar adorned with a “Republican Voters Against Trump” sticker.

Additionally, Conway is the former husband of Kellyanne Conway, a notable aide to Trump.

Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of former President John F. Kennedy, placed third with 10.1% of the vote. He stirred some controversy on social media by suggesting that second lady Usha Vance was “much hotter” than Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis earlier in January 2025.
