Trump launches Great American State Fair honoring 250 years of America: 'America is back'

Trump Kicks Off Great American State Fair with Patriotic Remarks

On Wednesday night, President Donald Trump launched the Great American State Fair, celebrating America’s history and echoing themes reminiscent of the American Revolution during his speech at the National Mall.

“Just like the patriots of 1776, we’ve reclaimed power from a remote political elite over the last 17 months,” Trump proclaimed to the enthusiastic crowd. “They might attempt to take it back, but that’s not going to fly. We’ve regained our sovereignty, our freedoms, and restored prosperity. We’re prioritizing America once more.”

As part of the event marking the nation’s 250th anniversary, Trump entered amid the sound of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA,” accompanied by military flyovers featuring a B-2 bomber and an F-35 fighter jet, alongside remarks from his Cabinet and the U.S. Marine Corps Band.

“America is back,” Trump declared to the cheering audience. “We’re the hottest country globally. We have respect again; nobody’s laughing at us anymore.”

During his speech, Trump highlighted what he described as significant progress within the capital, stating that efforts had been made to clear homeless encampments, remove graffiti, and restore over 50 monuments and memorials. He also noted substantial repair work at locations like Union Station and Lafayette Square, which he criticized as having been damaged by “thugs.”

“The vandals have shown up,” he remarked about the Reflecting Pool. “Most have been arrested and face charges. We can’t let this continue in our country.”

Additionally, he hinted at several upcoming projects linked to the anniversary, mentioning a new ballroom at the White House, what he termed an “Arch of Triumph” near Arlington Cemetery, and the National Garden of American Heroes.

Trump has framed this anniversary as not just a celebration of America’s beginnings, but also as the launch of what he describes as a new “America’s Golden Age.”

“This is a time to take pride in our past,” Trump stated. “But it’s also when we should aim higher, broaden our aspirations, and elevate our expectations of what America can achieve.”

“That said, the best is yet to come,” he added, leaving listeners with a sense of optimism.

Attendees included House Speaker Mike Johnson, various Cabinet members, and as Trump noted, “countless” Congress members. He described the opening ceremony as a “very special night.”

“I’m honored to kick off the Great American State Fair festivities,” Trump shared. “It’s going to be spectacular—truly incredible.”

Starting Wednesday through July 10, the fair will feature exhibits from all 50 states and six territories, with military displays, patriotic music, high-tech showcases, a FIFA fan zone, and even an “old-fashioned rodeo.”

Post-flyover, Trump teased attendees about the quality of the U.S. air force, stating, “You’ll get just a little glimpse tonight.”

He also mentioned plans for a grand Fourth of July celebration, promising to address the public during an enormous fireworks display to mark the 250th anniversary. Other events mentioned included the Patriot Games, a competition for top high school athletes, and the Freedom 250 Grand Prix race around the Capitol.

In closing, Trump honored the many generations of Americans who contributed to and protected the nation. He referenced historical figures and events, emphasizing the collective legacy of the country.

“This is our heritage. This is our history. America’s destiny is to remain the greatest nation ever,” Trump concluded. “We are one people, one nation, and we’re moving toward a bright future under the American flag.”

“Happy birthday, America,” he added, closing a night filled with patriotic fervor.
