New U.S. Passport Design Celebrates 250th Anniversary
President Donald Trump recently unveiled a mockup of a special edition U.S. passport, designed to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary. He highlighted that this new passport urges individuals to “be good!”
Trump quipped on Truth Social, “Your new U.S. passport says, ‘Welcome, but good luck!'”
The passport features a background of the American flag, showcasing a portrait of Trump alongside his signature, set against the Declaration of Independence. The reverse side displays an image of a signature from the Declaration by artist John Trumbull, which notes “United States of America 250.”
Set to be issued this summer, these passports are part of a larger celebration under the Trump administration called America 250. This includes various events like the upcoming UFC America 250, a special quarter release, the Great American State Fair on the National Mall, the Freedom 250 IndyCar Grand Prix, and a nationwide block party on the 4th of July.
The State Department indicated that this new passport design will be available to “all American citizens” who apply for or renew their passports during its release, continuing until supplies run out. They noted that the design will become the standard issue when it is made available through the Washington State Passport Office, as long as applicants apply in person.
Officials stated, “Existing passport designs will be maintained for online options or elsewhere.” They further explained that this special passport features custom artwork and high-quality imagery on the front, back, and inside covers. “It includes all the advanced security features that ensure the U.S. passport is one of the safest travel and identification documents globally.”
