Tim Walz criticizes Supreme Court decision on transgender athletes as harsh.

House Oversight report claims Walz overlooked billions in Minnesota fraud

Supreme Court Upholds State Ban on Biological Boys in Women’s Sports

The Supreme Court has recently decided to uphold bans in Idaho and West Virginia that prevent biological males from participating in women’s sports. Notably, legal experts like Jonathan Turley and Shannon Bream pointed out that this ruling reinforces the notion that transgender status is not seen as a protected category, much like race or religion, leaving it to individual states to decide.

In response to the ruling, Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Walz criticized it as “cruel,” which led to a strong backlash from conservative commentators on social media.

Walz stated, “The Supreme Court has allowed states to be cruel to transgender children. Here in Minnesota, we support and value our transgender neighbors and youth.” However, his comments were quickly met with criticism, particularly from Minnesota Republicans.

One notable reaction came from Republican Senator Julia Coleman, who argued, “What is cruel is to take a teenage girl who is already uncomfortable in her own skin and force her to change next to a naked boy in a locker room. What is cruel is to have female students forced out on the field by biological males, losing out on scholarships and the chance to play more games.” She emphasized that the safety and opportunity of women should be prioritized over political agendas.

In further developments, retired Minnesota State Patrol Lieutenant John Nagel also voiced his opinion, stating, “Once again, you are ignoring American law. You don’t support women’s rights. You’re the face of everything that’s wrong with the Democratic Party.”

Additionally, attorney Lenny Carlson questioned, “Which Minnesota Girl Deserves to Lose Her Team Spot to a Male Athlete?” He expressed concerns about the impact of these decisions on young female athletes.

The GOP National Committee responded to Walz’s remarks, noting, “Tim Walz called the Supreme Court’s decision to protect girls and keep men out of sports ‘cruel.’ But what’s really ‘cruel’ is defending the sexual mutilation of children and disgusting men in the locker room.” This statement reflects a growing sentiment within conservative circles about protecting women’s sports.

Moreover, Republican Senator Michael Holmstrom criticized the ruling’s implications, claiming that it could lead to “destroyed lives” and “victimized girls” across the state.

Amid the controversies, one columnist labeled Walz “America’s Worst Governor,” suggesting that his standing may soon diminish as his policies face increasing scrutiny. Fox News Digital reached out for a comment from Walz’s office regarding the backlash.

Later, Walz clarified that the Supreme Court’s decision doesn’t alter Minnesota’s stance on girls in youth sports. He mentioned that while the ruling may appear negative, Minnesota will continue to foster an inclusive environment for transgender athletes, asserting, “I think people in Minnesota would think it’s ridiculous that people who have never been to a youth event would try so hard to keep kids from bowling.”

This ruling marks a significant moment, as the Supreme Court upheld state laws demanding that student-athletes compete based on their biological sex at birth rather than their gender identity, with a vote of 6-3.

As it stands, over half of U.S. states now have the authority to enforce measures protecting women’s sports. However, states such as California, New York, and Massachusetts have not yet implemented similar laws and continue to maintain protections for transgender athletes in women’s sports.
