Police detain suspected shoplifters at Costco who used fake credit cards.

Two individuals were apprehended on Sunday at a Costco in South Windsor, Connecticut, after allegedly attempting to steal items using fake credit cards, according to local authorities.

The South Windsor Police Department reported that the incident took place around 3 p.m. The suspects, identified as Brittany A. Howard, 35, from the Bronx, and Kaseem M. Williams, 34, of Brooklyn, were recognized as potential repeat offenders.

Officers responded to a call reporting the shoplifters in action at the self-checkout, where they were trying to make purchases with fraudulent cards. Interestingly, it had come to the store’s attention that these same suspects might have been involved in a similar scheme at another Costco located in Enfield, roughly a half-hour drive away.

Upon arrest, authorities discovered 28 stolen documents, each under different names, in the suspects’ vehicle, along with merchandise suspected to be stolen.

After their capture, it was revealed that both individuals had outstanding warrants. Williams was wanted in Suffolk County, New York, facing multiple charges like robbery and assault, while Howard had an extradition warrant from Hudson County, New Jersey, for credit card theft.

They’re now facing a slew of charges, including 28 counts of payment card theft, identity theft, and conspiracy. Both suspects are currently held on a $250,000 bond and are set to appear in court on Monday morning.
